Thursday 30 June 17:00 – Reuse, Repair, Recycle: the Circular Economy in Helsingborg

Discover Helsingborg’s new House of Resources, tour the globally unique RecoLab facility and find out about the proposed Reuse Shopping Mall

We’ll start at the House of Resources in Oceanhamnen, a project that focuses on recycling and circularity. It will be a hub for renovation, repairs, and upcycling, with groceries available to buy and collect in the evening. The House of Resources is part of a three-year EU project Interreg CIRC North Sea Region, a collaboration between several Nordic and northern European countries.

At 17.30 we’ll take a short walk to the showroom at Recolab for a tour and discussion. RecoLab is a world-first water treatment facility, testbed, and exhibition hall. We’ll hear about the facility, its function in Oceanhamnen, and its global significance, then join interior designer and recycler Helena Bergqvist of Repair It to find out about the study she and Camilla Grundelius of Kantikant have made into the feasibility and desirability of having a Reuse Shopping Mall in Helsingborg. The study was commissioned by the City of Helsingborg and NSR. This is your opportunity to give your input!

Where to meet

Meet at the northeast corner of Magasin 405 (IKEA Market). There is a big white square tent on the landside, with an H22 sign that says Resursens hus /House of Resources. The address is Redaregatan 25, Oceanhamnen, Helsingborg. The site is next to NSR.

During our events, we sometimes take photographs and short videos to share on the HIC website and social media. If you prefer not to be in any photos or videos, please let us know at the beginning of the event. Thank you!

Thursday 18 October 18:30 – Meet Matkooperativet!

It’s a real pleasure to meet a social entrepreneur who has been able to transform her passion into a popular business! This is what Hanna Bergström, founder of Matkooperativet (food cooperative) has done in Helsingborg. The farmers’ markets she visited while living in New York inspired her to source fresh food from local suppliers in Skåne, seeking out organic produce wherever possible. She’s been able to share her interest with the local community by forming a thriving consumer co-operative.

Since starting the association in February 2017 and using two crowd-funding campaigns to develop the store, public interest has rocketed. Join us for a tour of the shop, where you can see and taste some of the produce available and learn about sustainable initiatives in place such as refilling your own containers of toiletries or household liquids. You’ll also find out how to join the co-operative, member discounts and volunteering opportunities. We hope to have a few of the suppliers on hand to talk about their produce, too!

18:30 – 19:30 Presentation and tour of Matkooperativet shop
