Just arrived in town? This is a popular time of year for new arrivals and we want to do our best to make you feel welcome!

Our first speaker will be Eva-Lotta Bergström from Helsingborgs Stad, who will talk to us about Helsingborg in its historical, geographical, and commercial context and the city’s plans for the future. We will also be joined by Kristina Weberg, the coordinator of Visionsfonden (the Vision Fund), Helsingborg Municipality’s unique grant which supports great new ideas in the city, and a local SFI school, who will talk about their course options and the sign-up process for learning Swedish in Helsingborg. Dimitrij Aleshkov, entrepreneur and active citizen, will talk to us about an opportunity for local volunteering and engagement and Parul Ghosh will introduce her website This Is Helsingborg.

We’ll let you know about HIC’s plans for the autumn and how we support the local international community. There will also be time for Q & A.

Tuesday 14 September 10:00 – How does Sweden’s social insurance agency work?

Photo: Magnus Liam Karlsson/imagebank.sweden.se

WEBINAR: Social Insurance in Sweden is unlike many other countries in the world as it covers basically everyone who works and lives in Sweden. The insurance is an essential part of the public welfare system that protects the needs of the individual, family, and companies.

The purpose of Sweden’s Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan) is to provide financial security at various stages of life. However, it can be difficult to understand how it works and which benefits you and your family are entitled to if you are new to the country.

We’re pleased to join International Citizen Hub Lund for this event.

They have invited Henrik Malmquist, a representative from Försäkringskassan, to go through the basics and answer your questions. Some of the questions that will be addressed include:

Do I need to register at Försäkringskassan?
What happens if I’m sick and can’t work for a couple of weeks?
Am I insured if I travel to another country?
What benefits can my family receive?

During our events we sometimes take photographs and short videos to share on the HIC website and social media. If you prefer not to be in any photos or videos, please let us know at the beginning of the event. Thank you!
