Wednesday 25 May 09:00 – Visit to Lund

Get to know our “sister” organisation International Citizen Hub Lund and enjoy a guided tour among the beautiful flowers and plants of the Botanical Garden in Lund.

We’ve arranged a visit to Lund to visit the International Citizen Hub Lund and to hear about their services to the international community. After that, we’ll walk together to the Botanical Garden of Lund for a guided tour. You’ll learn about the various plants and flowers that thrive in spring and early summer, and the history behind them.

Today the Botanical Garden of Lund University has over 7000 different species on 8 hectares (20 acres) in the middle of Lund. The collections include plants from tropical rainforests, deserts, and mountains. There’s also a range of fruits, vegetables, and medicinal plants.

The “Old Botanical Garden” was founded in 1690 and was situated at the current University square in Lundagård. At that time, the garden was part of the Faculty of Medicine. The garden at Östra Vallgatan was established in the 1860s and in the 1970s it was detached from the Botanical Institute of Lund University.

The botanical garden still supports research and education, but the main focus today is on communicating knowledge about botany, horticulture, and environmental issues.

We’ll meet at Helsingborg C at 09:00 to catch the 09:10 train to Lund. Please buy your tickets in advance.

Schedule:

  • Meet at Helsingborg C at 09:00
  • Catch train to Lund at 09:10
  • Coffee and introduction of ICHL and HIC 10:00-10:45
  • Guided tour Botanical Garden 11:00-12:00

Wednesday 16 March 19:00 – HIC Volunteer Group Meeting

Would you like to be part of a community supporting internationals in Helsingborg?

We’re looking for volunteers and invite you to a kick-off meeting in March!

Volunteering is a perfect way of getting to know new people and expanding your network, which is essential when you move to a new country. Volunteers benefit from the companionship and sense of satisfaction found in shared activities, while bringing a unique perspective, different skills, and new ideas to the group. Volunteering is also a great way of showcasing your skillset and adding to your experience in Sweden, very important for your CV!

We’ve had a wonderful pool of volunteers to call on and as we come out of the pandemic, we’re looking to re-establish our volunteer group to help us plan ahead. With you on board, we can reach more internationals and make sure that we’re providing the activities that you want to see.

How can you help? We need:

  • Event researchers and planners
  • Event helpers
  • Photographers and videographers
  • Social media designers and contributors
  • Anything else? Tell us about your cool skill or idea!

Would you like to be part of our volunteer group? Please sign up on the link below to join us at the kick-off meeting.
