Wednesday 7 February 18:00 – Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Helsingborg

There is a huge amount of support in Helsingborg for people with new business ideas, and a thriving start up community. This is good news for international arrivals, who often find that moving to another country offers them the chance to reinvent themselves and start their own business.

A new initiative called Startup Labs is hosting Open Desk sessions at THINK Open Space on Wednesday mornings, where a representative from SoPactTHINK AccelerateTHINK Open Space or NyföretagarCentrum Skåne Nordväst (New Business Centre) will be available to listen to your idea and coach you over a cup of coffee. You don’t even need a fully-formed idea yet, just the beginnings of one!

We’re delighted to have Emelie Dahlström of SoPactAnneli Ödén of NyföretagarCentrum Skåne Nordväst, and Jenny Sandberg of THINK Accelerate talking to us about their work with these organisations and Startup Labs.

You’ll be able to pick their brains about setting up a new business or testing your idea to see how far you can take it.

“The Joy of Co-working” by Ilse Weisfelt at THINK Open Space, in collaboration with Joren Joshua, curated by Kulturhotellet.

We’ll mix in some “light entertainment” after the break, when we’ll hear from George Jonasson, the project leader for February’s Drömljus festival of light. He’ll talk to us about the spectacular light and sound installations, and exciting, interactive and vibrant activities that will fill Helsingborg from the 9th-18th February. It’s five years since the last Drömljus, so we are really looking forward to it! You can even book workshops and “behind the scenes” seminars, so check out the website as soon as possible!

Bringing us some much-needed light in February – Drömljus will be back!

Thursday 16 November 18:00 – Business & Pleasure

We’ll have some great speakers for you at this event. People like you, who understand what it’s like to come to Sweden and start their lives again from scratch. People helping others to help themselves. People who can tell us what’s happening this winter, and where. Don’t miss it!

Passent El Soury from Innovation Skåne will talk about her experiences in Sweden since arriving here just a few years ago. She’ll explain her new role as Community Manager and will highlight the enterprenurial opportunities and support that Innovation Skåne can offer.

Passent is a good friend of HIC and we look forward to hearing all about her new position!

Calle Norling of Integratörerna Helsingborg will talk about his work with several projects aimed at making the integration process easier, including mentorship- and internship programs where the newly arrived (no matter the reason to come) are matched with established Swedes, based on their shared work identity.

Calle is participating in the SoPact Accelerator Program along with HIC, and is busy with some very interesting local projects.

We’re delighted to welcome Camilla and Anna of Kvinnokarta, the project literally putting women of Helsingborg on the map! They will talk to us about their free city walks which uncover the input of 10 memorable women into Helsingborg’s history. As a project that evolved out of both study circles and Vision Fund, this follows on very neatly from two of our speakers at the last HIC event.

We’ll also be looking ahead to Swedish traditions around this time of year and giving you the head’s-up for local events and markets which will have you feeling seasonal in no time!

We’ll adding more speakers to this event over the next week, so please check back!

Doors open at 17:30 for refreshments and first speakers will begin at 18:00. Feel free to bring a friend! We’re looking forward to meeting you!

Tuesday 17 May 17:30 – #HIC4Business – Supporting our International Community

Looking outwards from Sweden

  • Why does our region need international talent?
  • What networks and initiatives are available to support it?
  • How can HIC help your company attract and retain your international recruitment investment?
  • How can our network facilitate your internationalisation and export processes?
  • Helsingborg International Connections (HIC) is an on-and-offline meeting place for English-speaking expats in Helsingborg and the wider Öresund Region. We have been working to support international residents in this region since the beginning of 2014. Our events help build bridges among the HIC network, Helsingborg Stad and the business community. Our members and contacts include CEOs, management consultants, entrepreneurs, “love immigrants”, students, pensioners, refugees, seekers of work/life balance and many more
  • We aim to create opportunities for social and professional networking in a variety of settings. HIC events are held in English to ensure that as many internationals as possible can communicate in a common language. Our topics are varied but all have one theme – a desire to inform, enrich, connect and empower
  • We know that our network makes a difference. Let us show you how we can help your local or international business, your international employees and build a strong future for this region: HIC, the “one-stop shop” for expat relocation, networking and soft landing services!
