Thursday 18 October 18:30 – Meet Matkooperativet!

It’s a real pleasure to meet a social entrepreneur who has been able to transform her passion into a popular business! This is what Hanna Bergström, founder of Matkooperativet (food cooperative) has done in Helsingborg. The farmers’ markets she visited while living in New York inspired her to source fresh food from local suppliers in Skåne, seeking out organic produce wherever possible. She’s been able to share her interest with the local community by forming a thriving consumer co-operative.

Since starting the association in February 2017 and using two crowd-funding campaigns to develop the store, public interest has rocketed. Join us for a tour of the shop, where you can see and taste some of the produce available and learn about sustainable initiatives in place such as refilling your own containers of toiletries or household liquids. You’ll also find out how to join the co-operative, member discounts and volunteering opportunities. We hope to have a few of the suppliers on hand to talk about their produce, too!

Program

18:30 – 19:30 Presentation and tour of Matkooperativet shop

Thursday 13 September 09:15 – Visit to Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

Photo credit: Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

If you haven’t been to this beautiful museum across the Sound in Denmark, it’s definitely time for a visit. Considered the most important museum of modern art in Northern Europe, Louisiana is famous for its innovative look at contemporary art and stunning surroundings. Its permanent collection holds over 3000 works and 8-12 special exhibitions are held every year.

We’ll meet at Knutpunkten and travel together, with everyone responsible for purchasing their own tickets for travel and museum entry. We recommend buying the combined return travel and museum entrance ticket at the Scandlines ticket desk (275 SEK for adults, see link for child & over 65s’ discount). We’ve chosen the bus route from Helsingör as it takes us directly to Louisiana.

You’re free to look at the exhibits by yourself or with other HIC guests, and to return at the time that suits you best. We hope to meet at the cafe for lunch, too! We’ll decide on the day, depending on the wishes of the group.

Saturday 28 April 14:00 – City Walk: Historic Women of Helsingborg

Photo: Kvinnokarta Helsingborg

Now you have the chance to walk in the historic women of Helsingborg’s footsteps! Join the “Kvinnokarta Helsingborg” on a city walk where you meet 10 memorable women; from the scary murderer to the teacher far ahead of her time. The walk lasts for about an hour and a half and the talk will be in English.

Here’s some information from Kvinnokarta Helsingborg:

A study circle at Medborgarskolan has developed the “women’s map” that forms the basis of the city walk. The Kvinnokarta Helsingborg project is a grassroots project by citizens who are tired of the one-sided storytelling about Helsingborg. We have no authorized guides and are not historians but our project is entirely based on the participants’ genuine interest in highlighting the women in Helsingborg’s history. If you have any information we are missing, please share them with our guides.

Other information: The tour is approximately 3 km long and is available for the permobil / wheelchair. Please dress according to the weather – the walk will only be cancelled if there is a big storm and in that case you will be notified via sms.”

Meet by the fountain next to the library (Stadsbibliotek) main entrance, Bollbrogatan 1, 25225 Helsingborg

Tuesday 17 May 17:30 – #HIC4Business – Supporting our International Community

Looking outwards from Sweden

  • Why does our region need international talent?
  • What networks and initiatives are available to support it?
  • How can HIC help your company attract and retain your international recruitment investment?
  • How can our network facilitate your internationalisation and export processes?
  • Helsingborg International Connections (HIC) is an on-and-offline meeting place for English-speaking expats in Helsingborg and the wider Öresund Region. We have been working to support international residents in this region since the beginning of 2014. Our events help build bridges among the HIC network, Helsingborg Stad and the business community. Our members and contacts include CEOs, management consultants, entrepreneurs, “love immigrants”, students, pensioners, refugees, seekers of work/life balance and many more
  • We aim to create opportunities for social and professional networking in a variety of settings. HIC events are held in English to ensure that as many internationals as possible can communicate in a common language. Our topics are varied but all have one theme – a desire to inform, enrich, connect and empower
  • We know that our network makes a difference. Let us show you how we can help your local or international business, your international employees and build a strong future for this region: HIC, the “one-stop shop” for expat relocation, networking and soft landing services!
