Thursday 30 June 17:00 – Reuse, Repair, Recycle: the Circular Economy in Helsingborg

Discover Helsingborg’s new House of Resources, tour the globally unique RecoLab facility and find out about the proposed Reuse Shopping Mall

We’ll start at the House of Resources in Oceanhamnen, a project that focuses on recycling and circularity. It will be a hub for renovation, repairs, and upcycling, with groceries available to buy and collect in the evening. The House of Resources is part of a three-year EU project Interreg CIRC North Sea Region, a collaboration between several Nordic and northern European countries.

At 17.30 we’ll take a short walk to the showroom at Recolab for a tour and discussion. RecoLab is a world-first water treatment facility, testbed, and exhibition hall. We’ll hear about the facility, its function in Oceanhamnen, and its global significance, then join interior designer and recycler Helena Bergqvist of RepairIt to find out about the study she and Camilla Grundelius of Kantikant have made into the feasibility and desirability of having a Reuse Shopping Mall in Helsingborg. The study was commissioned by the City of Helsingborg and NSR. This is your opportunity to give your input!

Where to meet

Meet at the northeast corner of Magasin 405 (IKEA Market). There is a big white square tent on the landside, with an H22 sign that says Resursens hus /House of Resources. The address is Redaregatan 25, Oceanhamnen, Helsingborg. The site is next to NSR.

Tuesday 14 June 09:00 – Attracting and Retaining International Talent in Helsingborg

How can businesses in North-West Skåne support their international talent? How do we make sure that employers offer the best possible conditions for talent and their families? How can public and private actors collaborate? Why is a support system even necessary?

We invite employers, recruiters, and municipal representatives to a morning of presentations, discussions, and networking at Open22. Your host, Sally Russell of Helsingborg International Connections, will talk about HIC’s work in welcoming and supporting international talents in the Helsingborg area and examine how public and private partnerships can boost talent attraction and retention.

We’ll discuss how initiatives such as HIC create value for employers, while reducing isolation and loneliness, promoting good health and well-being, and building sustainable cities and communities. Our guest speakers will include expats and public and private actors who will shine a light on these essential but often overlooked topics.

This event has been arranged in collaboration with H22 City Expo, Open 22 at Mindpark, and Helsingborg Municipality.

Wednesday 25 May 09:00 – Visit to Lund

Get to know our “sister” organisation International Citizen Hub Lund and enjoy a guided tour among the beautiful flowers and plants of the Botanical Garden in Lund.

We’ve arranged a visit to Lund to visit the International Citizen Hub Lund and to hear about their services to the international community. After that, we’ll walk together to the Botanical Garden of Lund for a guided tour. You’ll learn about the various plants and flowers that thrive in spring and early summer, and the history behind them.

Today the Botanical Garden of Lund University has over 7000 different species on 8 hectares (20 acres) in the middle of Lund. The collections include plants from tropical rainforests, deserts, and mountains. There’s also a range of fruits, vegetables, and medicinal plants.

The “Old Botanical Garden” was founded in 1690 and was situated at the current University square in Lundagård. At that time, the garden was part of the Faculty of Medicine. The garden at Östra Vallgatan was established in the 1860s and in the 1970s it was detached from the Botanical Institute of Lund University.

The botanical garden still supports research and education, but the main focus today is on communicating knowledge about botany, horticulture, and environmental issues.

We’ll meet at Helsingborg C at 09:00 to catch the 09:10 train to Lund. Please buy your tickets in advance.

Schedule:

  • Meet at Helsingborg C at 09:00
