Sunday 28 April 10:15 – HIC Excursions: Konstrundan Höganäs

With the help of our willing volunteers, we’re starting a new programme of HIC Excursions! These will be more casual, volunteer-led meet-ups where HIC friends get together to attend a local event or take part in an activity.

We’re kicking off with a visit to the artists’ studios taking part in Konstrundan in Höganäs this year. This is a lovely opportunity to wander around an area rich in artistic and ceramic history and has been chosen for the proximity to the various artists exhibiting their work.

Rea-Kriezl Felipe will be the event lead on this occasion and will meet you at Höganäs Stadshuset bus stop. For those travelling by bus, please take the 220 yellow bus from Helsingborg C at 09:30 (bus stop G), which is due to arrive at Höganäs Stadshuset at 10:09. 

Rea-Kriezl will arrange stops for lunch and fika and plans to be visiting studios until late afternoon. You are welcome to bring a picnic. We will send out her phone number nearer the time.

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED! WE HOPE TO GET BACK TO YOU WITH ANOTHER DATE SOON.

We’re continuing our collaboration with Social Business Lab and HBG Business Community for another “HBG Business Community TALKS:” events. This time we’ll learn about working in the logistics sector, what challenges the industry is facing and what the future might look like.

The evening will be kicked off with an introduction by Calle Norling from Social Business Lab and Sally Russell from Helsingborg International Connections, followed up by our guest speaker. We’ll end the evening with some time for questions and a mingle!

We warmly welcome English speakers to an international coffee morning with coffee, cakes and chat in the cafe of Helsingborg’s famous concert hall (Konserthuset). Make new friends and learn more about this wonderful facility for young and old alike in the centre of town!

Sunday 7 April 14:00 – Sofiero Spring Preview

Welcome to a sneak peek of the spring season at Sofiero! We’ll be shown around the gardens by knowledgeable former guide Anna Brandeby, who will talk to us about the park and its royal history. Anna will tell the story behind Sofiero and show the highlights in the gardens.

As the season opens fully on the 13th April, there will be no entry charge. This will be a fantastic spring tour with an educational sneak peak for the coming season and will last approximately 1.5 hours.

Thursday 28 March 17:45 – Tea Tasting Challenge!

Want to use your English skills, meet new people and learn something new about tea? Join the after work tea challenge – no experience necessary! 

We’ll provide tea, sandwiches and friendly and a welcoming atmosphere.
 
The evening will begin with a brief introduction to tea from local tea sommelier Harriet Endean, who will explain what to look out for when tasting teas. In teams we will taste six different types of tea, make our own tasting notes and then compare what we discovered. 
 
During the evening we’ll hear some hot tips on how to brew the perfect cup of tea and hear more about teas from different cultures. We’ll round up the evening with a chance to mingle and share some of our own tea stories with each other. 
 
Harriet Endean is an independent tea sommelier and cultural anthropologist from Great Britain. 
She runs bespoke tea workshops and writes articles and tasting notes for independent companies.

Thursday 21 March 17:30 – Ways into Work

Save the date! Join us for some great hints and tips on ways into work in Sweden and Denmark with Pia and Malin from Jobb på tvärs, an Interreg project where Helsingborgs stad, Helsingør municipality and the Swedish Public Employment Service co-operate for a common labour market in the Öresund region. Pia and Malin have great experience in this area and are very knowledgeable about other related services in the municipality, so you can expect some good information from them!

 

We’re also delighted to welcome Syrian journalist Ali Alabdullah, who has written a well-received book on finding a new job in a new country (Nytt jobb i nytt land). Ali was ranked 43rd most powerful person in North-West Skåne by Helsingborgs Dagblad in December 2018 and has been featured widely in the press and on social media. He will talk about the findings from his research and give hints and tips about finding work in Sweden.

HIC is partnering with Social Business Lab again to bring you this event – we’re looking forward to an informative, inspiring evening!
